Membership
Membership for adults and children is free of charge to anyone who is a permanent resident of the Town of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. Children under the age of 18 need parental consent to take out a membership.
Non-residents are required to pay a yearly membership, the rate of which is established by the library board of trustees and reviewed annually.
Children less than 18 years of age must obtain permission from one of their parents.
Loan periods
Loan periods for most library materials are set as follows:
- Books – 3 weeks
- Video – 1 week
- Current magazines – 1 week
- DVD – 1 week
- CD – 1 week
A patron may request in person or by phone a renewal on any material, except videos, provided there is no reserve placed on the material. They can also renew their items by accessing their account on this Website.
Maximum of borrowed materials
The maximum number of materials borrowed at any one time is 20, including a maximum of three (3) videos per family.
Fines
Materials not returned on or before the date due will be assessed an overdue fee at a rate set by the Board. The fee will not exceed the replacement cost of the material. The fee rates will be placed in a conspicuous place. The rate will be reviewed annually by the Board.
Lost or damaged materials
Restitution must be made by the patron for lost or damaged materials and will be determined by the cost of replacement and the extent of damage, at the librarian’s discretion.
Loss of borrowing privileges
A member will lose borrowing privileges should he or she choose not to respect the rules established by the library board. A member who neglects to pay fines or replacement cost of a lost item will also lose borrowing privileges until the issue is corrected.
Donations
Donations to the library (general operations, collection development, special projects, etc.) are very welcome at any time. In order to receive a receipt for income tax purposes, please make your cheque payable to Village Notre Dame, specifying Père-Champagne Library.
